Messi: Ajax pair De Ligt and De Jong could handle Barcelonaby Carlos Volcano10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveBarcelona ace Leo Messi is backing their move for Ajax pair Mattihjs De Ligt and Frenkie De Jong.Messi, who spoke to Marca, highlighted the level of both. “They come from a school very similar to our own. There they work in practically the same way. They play like us, having the ball, possession, good feet, they are young players with a lot of precision. Two very good players,” said Messi. The Barca forward also said the club should keep betting on their youth academy, La Masia. “It’s important to go back to betting on the boys from the youth academy, giving them a chance. They need to see it’s not impossible to climb and reach the first team. I think that in the future Barca can play with 11 homegrown players because we have a great youth academy, but it will take its time.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorCarlos VolcanoShare the loveHave your say

You never ever forget it and it’s so humbling but it’s a fantastic experience of course, to be here and hear those songs. “It’s important you celebrate these wins along the way. You’ve got to enjoy the journey, not just the end product. Every time you win a game, it’s time to celebrate and to pat yourself on the back. Tomorrow morning, you get up and out of bed ready for the next game. I’ve been here after the 5-0 defeat (in 1996) and luckily today they can go home happily. It was fantastic.”
