POLICE IN BELFAST have now opened a murder investigation after a man who was fighting for his life in hospital died yesterday.Conan Anderson (22) suffered head in injuries after being out on a night out in the city almost two weeks ago.The young man had been out in the Arthur’s Lane area of Belfast on Sunday 5 February and returned home the following morning at about 7.30am.Later on that day he began to feel unwell and was admitted to hospital with serious head injuries on the evening of Monday 6 February.The matter was reported to police on Wednesday 8 February and enquiries established that an incident had occurred in the early hours of Monday morning that led to his injuries.On 9 February a 27-year-old man was arrested in north Belfast on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and later released pending further enquiries.At this point Anderson remained in hospital in a critical condition and a vigil was held by friends and loved ones as he fought for his life.Friends said that Anderson coached a young football team at Doyle FC in the area. Conan Anderson died in hospital on Saturday.
